Is your skin starting to sag? Why I recommend HIFU to my older clients.
HIFU (High Intensity focused ultrasound) is highly recommended for clients who are beginning to see the signs of age. It is recognised as one of the most effective non-surgical facial rejuvenation treatments available and a viable alternative to surgical facelifts.
HIFU uses ultrasound technology to target deep layers of the skin to stimulate the production of collagen (the holy grail of anti-aging) and dissolve fatty deposits. It is most popular for tightening the skin around the jaw and neckline where the skin is losing its elasticity and is a popular treatment for reducing a double chin. It is also used to tighten skin around the eye area, the brow and cheeks.
The treatment takes about an hour, administered by an accredited doctor. The non-invasive anti-aging treatment targets 3 layers of the skin – from the deep dermis to the superficial dermis.
Why I recommend it to my clients.
As we get older we produce less collagen. This leads to thinner skin, wrinkles and sagging. There are a number of procedures we use for stimulating the collagen; laser, injectables and HIFU. HIFU is favoured as an effective, cost-efficient treatment, with great results. Redefining the jawline, reducing double chins, opening up the eyes and tightening the skin across the cheeks and the brow is achieved through a series of high frequency focused ultrasound bursts. HIFU is a high tech machine that produces great results. Some see immediate results but generally it will take a few weeks to see the maximum results. The best thing is that the skin condition will continue to improve over the following months and will last. For those with advanced signs of aging we recommend a follow up treatment 4-6 months after the first.
Does it hurt?
We apply an anaesthetic cream, although we have some clients who go without, it is recommended. There is sometimes a little discomfort felt as the beams follow the contours of the face but these disappear immediately. Some redness or puffiness may result after but most patients return to work immediately after the treatment.
Does it work alongside other skin rejuvenation treatments?
HIFU can be combined with botox or fillers to add definition and relax wrinkles. Depending on the condition of the skin I may also recommend a peel which further stimulates the collagen.
Things you should know?
HIFU should only be conducted by a qualified, registered practitioner in a safe, sterile environment. You can return to normal life directly after with no downtime, pain or long term redness.
Client testimony.
” I have been a client of Dr Made for a long time and when she recommended HIFU I looked into it and spoke with some friends who had the treatment and decided to go ahead. As always Dr Made and her staff explained in detail the treatment and the benefits and how long it would take to see the results. The treatment itself was a little uncomfortable at times but mostly it was the areas where I had thin skin close to the bone, in most areas there was very little discomfort. The deep dermis treatment was the most intense and was repeated twice in my case. Those with more fat in their face may require a third, this is all done in one session and takes very little time. There are a series of different levels of intensity aimed at the deepest dermis, the middle and the surface levels of the skin.
The skin around the eye was visibly tighter almost immediately and my entire face felt tighter overall. A cooling gel is applied to the skin immediately after each area has been treated. My treatment took less than an hour and I am already seeing results but looking forward to seeing more. Friends I know who have had it absolutely love it, which is a good sign. They look good too.
I will follow up with botox to relax some of the wrinkles. ”
